Client Spotlight – Soccer De Brazil

Client Spotlight - Soccer De Brazil

In the Client Spotlight section as part of our Q3 Newsletter we spoke to Sean Brohier – Managing Director of Soccer De Brazil. He works closely with Nitasha Pal, Client Director.

Tell us about your business Soccer De Brazil?
Soccer de Brazil is a youth football academy for players aged 3‐16 years of age. We are improving Australia as a football nation through effective youth development. We started in 2009 with 2 coaches and 8 players. Today we employ 20 staff of which 7 are full time.

What was your passion for starting your business?
My business partner, Gui Carniel (Technical Director, Australia) started Soccer de Brazil. I brought my son who was 6 at the time, to Soccer de Brazil after hearing so many great things about the level of coaching. Soon I was invited to help out with the business side of things and became a director in 2012. I took on the role because I wanted to be able to have the same coaching I experienced for my child, provided to many other young Australian players.

How has COVID impacted your business?
COVID caused us to shut down completely during the first lockdown, resulting in us losing some great staff as they needed to get back to Brazil to be with their families. We saw the end near as we had full time staff and ongoing bills coming in but no revenue. The government support helped, allowing us to at least focus on the mental health of our young players. We created live stream sessions to have our players train in their backyards. We will get through this and see this as a wave that will take us up and down. I have told my team that the most important thing is that we stick together and we will come out the other side even stronger than before.

What is the major event you are running in September?
We are running the Sydney Futsal Cup. It is a national tournament which we first ran successfully in 2019. In September we are going to hold an even bigger event. We have opened opportunities for other businesses to showcase themselves in front of the 1000’s of people who will attend the 3 day event which will be held 22‐24 September 2021 at the PCYC in Hawkesbury.

How do you promote your business?
We promote our business through Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Google. We also run cross‐promotional campaigns with our sponsors where we promote them and they promote us. We also have a lot of referrals from our existing clients.

Where do you see your business in 5 years?
In 5 years time I see our business expanding into Canberra, Adelaide, and then New Zealand. I also see us capitalising on the recent exclusive signing we have with a professional Spanish Club.

How has Imagine Accounting assisted you?
Nitasha has been great. She has assisted me with claiming the government support packages, and with asset protection. Nitasha’s attention to detail means that I don’t have to be concerned about audits as we know we are doing the right thing. Integrity is one of our core values.
